Ely, Minnesota Social Media Ban: Town Announces Mandatory Unplugging

How much did Ely Minnesota "pay" for all of this publicity? Very little. This just shows that a little creative thought put into your marketing can go a long way. In this case, it went all across the Internet!

 

This was an amazing April Fools Joke on the world of all social media. I live pretty close to Ely Minnesota (pronounced “eee-lee”; not “eye-lee” as the National Weather announcer says it) and it is a great little town.

I like all of the fun that the chamber and the town’s mayor had with this as a way to keep the town in the news; bravo. All business people and anyone who wants a “high viz biz” can learn a thing or two from this.
